HEART OF ENGLAND CO-OPERATIVE SOCIETY’S HELPING HEARTS PLEDGES CASH TO HELP DISADVANTAGED CHILDREN IN CAMP HILL
The Heart of England Co-operative Society’s unique Helping Hearts scheme has pledged £200 towards sending disadvantaged children from the Camp Hill area of Nuneaton on holiday.
The cash will be used to send 26 children aged 8 to14 to fully supervised activity holidays for a week.
The holiday has been organised by the Camp Hill Holiday Scheme, set up by the Camp Hill Residents’ Forum. It is the second such event in two years. Last year seven children enjoyed a week in Beccles, Suffolk in August.
Ann Corbett, Chair of the Camp Hill Residents’ Forum, said: “We are so grateful for the Heart of England Co-operative Society’s tremendous support through its Helping Hearts initiative. This really is a fantastic boost to our fundraising. It is so rewarding to see youngsters enjoying a week away – something that their families would not normally be able to afford to do.”
Ali Kurji, Chief Executive, Heart of England Co-operative Society said: "We are delighted to support the Camp Hill Holiday Scheme.”
Jo Dyke, Community and Membership Adviser at the Society, added: “Most of us take holidays for granted but for most of these children this scheme is their only gateway to the seaside.
“We have heard the first holiday last year generated a lot of positive feedback and organisers have spent several months arranging this year’s event. Supporting our local community in this way is what Helping Hearts is all about and we at the Society are only too delighted to help in any way we can.
