PETER SAYS GOODBYE TO HEART OF ENGLAND CO-OPERATIVE SOCIETY AFTER MORE THAN THREE DECADES
Coventry man Peter Stevens was given a good send off by colleagues recently as he took early retirement after 34 years with the Heart of England Co-operative Society.
Peter, Warehouse Supervisor at the Rooms of Coventry store, was showered with gifts and presents from his colleagues on his last day.
The 58-year-old, who lives with wife Mavis in the Keresley area of Coventry, said he had enjoyed his time with the Society but he was looking forward to a relaxing retirement.
He said: “I have certainly spent a long time with the Society – I worked as a driver for 14 years, starting in King Street and then Upper York Street, before working out of the Store’s warehouse.
“It has been good fun. I will miss my colleagues and the camaraderie. But I am looking forward to putting my feet up for a while and a holiday will be on the cards in the not-too-distant future.”
Brian Wheatley General Manager of the Heart of England Co-operative Society’s Non-Food Division, said: “Peter has been with the Society for a long time and is a popular member of the team here.
“He will certainly be missed by everyone at Rooms of Coventry and on behalf of everyone at the Society I would like to wish him well in his retirement.”
